Our favorite podcaster, writer, host and happy noisemaker shares a few of her favorite things about Christmas with us.
Garbe: Would you consider yourself a Christmas person?
Jola: I love Christmas. Ahn ahn, who doesn’t? That’s what we should be asking. People who don’t why?
Garbe: What are you most looking forward to this festive season?
Jola: I love spending time with my people, and resting. I’m also a sucker for a fresh start and possibilities so having time to think and plan and hope for the new year. I love that!
Garbe: Tell us about your most memorable Christmas and what made it so special.
Jola: Hmmm I’m not sure the year, but there’s a Christmas when I was a kid and it seems like my parents wanted to use enjoyment to finish me and my siblings men! It felt like we were doing something fun or interesting everyday. I’m thinking about it and smiling because it was just so lovely.
Garbe: As a Gbajumo what are your 5 top tips on enjoying the festive season in Lagos.

Jola : I’m a gbajumo? Really? Wow wow wow. Well since you asked
1. Eliminate pressure. The essence of festivities is they’re meant be joyful, so if you’re under pressure it’s not for you
2. Make plans - nothing happens by magic. Places to go, people to see, things to do. Make an effort
3. Gift people oh! It doesn’t have to be expensive or ridiculous! Making people feel good is a great feeling. Yes I know
4. Just because it’s not popular doesn’t mean it won’t be fun. Organize karaoke, go to galleries, organize Suya night with your friends, do a carol service, volunteer somewhere, movie nights, potlucks. Use your creativity please.
5. Send me money. Look at all the ideas and tips I’ve given for free. In this economy. A generous gbajumorous queen.
